A Love Authored Quietly — How Their Story Began
Ian and Abby’s journey traces back to a quiet 2015 encounter at a York University tax clinic very simple, unassuming, and completely unsuspected. Abi came seeking support, Ian volunteered to serve, and God planted a seed neither recognized at the time. There was an ease, a familiarity, and later, the discovery of a small family connection that confirmed this moment was divine setup, not coincidence. He allowed them to meet but withheld the spark, saving the real connection for a season of alignment years later when they would be ready not just to love, but to build.
The Alignment — Friendship, Faith & Foundations
In 2019, God brought them together again, this time as study partners preparing for their real estate exams. At Starbucks, their friendship effortlessly unfolded into purpose , long study nights filled with laughter, shared dreams, prayers, and the quiet strengthening of trust. COVID, career shifts, transitions, and personal challenges only fused them deeper. Love revealed itself through small gestures: Ian showing up silently to cheer Abi on, Abi driving over 30 km just to bring him food. By the time Ian curated a thoughtful multi-stop proposal in 2023, honouring every stage of their story, it was clear their connection had matured from friendship into destiny.
The Wedding Week — A Royal Beginning in Jamaica
Their marriage story officially began with a vibrant Ghanaian Traditional Wedding in Toronto in June 2024 , a celebration of culture, honour, unity, and heritage. But for their White Wedding, they sought an intimate, immersive destination experience where family and friends could connect beyond a single afternoon. After a difficult detour in Costa Rica, where their booked venue was cancelled suddenly, they prayed, pivoted, and surrendered. That surrender led them to Trident Castle in Port Antonio, Jamaica . A divine miracle disguised as a last-minute change. The castle, the coastline, the atmosphere, the peace… everything aligned as if God had preserved this moment just for them.
The Welcome Party to Ceremony — Royalty, Emotion & God’s Hand
The week opened with a warm welcome party, bringing guests from Toronto, New York, Europe, Africa, and across the Caribbean with a global community gathering to honour love. Groom prep unfolded with Ian’s grounded confidence, while Abi’s bridal morning radiated the elegance and softness of a queen in her moment. Their first look, framed by castle architecture and ocean wind, was tender and deeply reflective of the journey they’d walked. Their ceremony embodied royalty and reverence evidently soft florals, warm breeze, heartfelt vows, and a cinematic exit captured under iPhone lights held by loved ones. It was romance and destiny intertwined.
The Celebration — Reception Magic & The Yacht Experience
As night fell, Trident Castle transformed into an illuminated dreamscape peeping chandeliers glowing, music rising, joy overflowing. Ian and Abby danced, embraced, laughed, and lived out a celebration that felt both regal and real. Every detail , décor, entertainment, laughter, tears reflected intentionality and the fullness of their love story. The next day, the all-white yacht party brought a final layer of magic: sunlight, ocean breeze, champagne, Afrobeats, community, and effortless joy. It was the perfect exhale certainly a symbolic transition into the beauty of their new beginning.
A Testament of Alignment — The Story Behind the Story
Looking back, every chapter from York University, Starbucks study sessions, the thoughtful proposal, the vibrant traditional wedding, the heartbreak in Costa Rica, the miracle of Trident Castle sweetly reveals a divine pattern. Nothing was random. Every delay was protection. Every closed door was redirection. Every moment was preparation for something bigger than they imagined. Their Jamaican castle wedding was not just an event; it was a testimony of grace, purpose, and destiny fulfilled. And for us at Jema Studios, capturing their journey was an honour .Simply a reminder that love, when authored by God, unfolds with intention, beauty, and timeless elegance.
